WHAT IS NOW FLORIDA EYE ASSOCIATES was founded in 1967 by Dr. Bill Broussard who opened his practice with a mission to provide comprehensive, quality services to the community. When Dr. William Broussard started his ophthalmology practice in Melbourne in 1967, no one was taking emergency calls at night in all of Brevard County. So he placed himself on call, seven days a week, 365 days a year. For three years.

Father-Son Doc Team Share Same Philosophies

DR. MARTIN ISENMAN started his medical career in Brevard County, Florida in 1976, two years before his son Eric was born. Dr. Eric Isenman joined his father’s medical practice in July 2007.

Patriots Give to Area Hospitals

CAROLYN MILLER beat the odds to became a Women Air Force Service Pilot, or WASP, during World War II. Carolyn, a long time volunteer and board member at Cape Canaveral Hospital, is pictured at left in the below photo, and above, during training in 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas.

Dr. Jim Carter’s Career Spans Five Decades

MEDICAL ICON: Dr. Jim Carter has spent his career serving individual patients, as well as building a hospital that amplifies that impact. He moved to Brevard County, Florida in 1965 from his home state of Wisconsin and served as chief of staff for Cape Canaveral Hospital from 1972 to 1977.

AT AGE 81, Dr. James Carter continues to work full time at his practice, associated with Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida. “I like to get up in the morning and go to work,” says Dr. Carter.

DR. BEN STOREY, above right, began his practice in Titusville in 1959, choosing to affiliate with Parrish Medical Center. Dr. Ben’s son Mark, above left, joined his dad’s practice in 1986. FLASHBACK: Wuesthoff 69 Years of Service

WHEN WUESTHOFF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL opened its doors in December 1941, it was housed in a six-room building with only 10 beds. The hospital staff consisted of three doctors, two nurses, an orderly, a cook and an administrator. The orderly was also the janitor and yard man. Ambulance service was provided by funeral homes.
