Know as “Dr. Pete, Wellness Evangelist,” Dr. Peter Weiss is a much sought out speaker, best-selling author and media personality – and is dedicated to inspiring and empowering ordinary people to gain control of their own health. His most recent book, “More Health Less Care,” is currently No. 1 on Amazon in the Wellness category.

Dr. Pete will reveal the fundamental insights and critical concepts you need to empower yourself to wellness.

With a physician for a father, Dr. Weiss was attracted to medicine at an early age and attended medical school at Washington University in St Louis where he was recognized as an outstanding student. During his nine-years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Weiss completed residency in Internal Medicine, fellowship in Infectious Diseases and became Board Certified in both fields. Distinguishing himself in various duty stations with the U.S. Marines, the Joint Task Force at Guantanamo Bay and at the Naval Hospital, San Diego, Dr. Weiss was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.

In 1994, Dr. Weiss entered the private practice of Infectious Disease in Melbourne, Florida. Dr. Weiss left practice to assume the Medical Directorship of Health First Health Plans based in Rockledge, Florida in 2000 – rising to become Chief Executive Officer in 2007. During his tenure, Health First Health Plans was named one of the nations top health plans in the U.S. News and World Report/National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) rankings.

Over his career it gradually became clear to Dr. Weiss that traditional healthcare, even in the best medical centers, wasn’t resulting in improved health or wellness for most Americans.

In his words, “I realized that the greatest burden of illness in our members was directly related to their lifestyles, and that more or better care wasn’t going to help most of them. Thereafter, I became committed to helping individuals change their lives, improve their health and avoid illness in the first place.” Feeling this call to action, Dr. Weiss left his leading role in traditional healthcare in January 2010 to reach people directly and help them take control of their health.

Charley Richards

Mr. Richards has been involved with sun care since he was 16 years old and sold Hawaiian Tropic at hotels in Daytona Beach Florida during the first year of HT’s existence in 1971. Throughout the last 40 years, he has trained thousands of skin care consultants that work the beaches of the world’s finest resorts.

Mr. Richards has developed an educational system that he calls the 3-P’s: protect, promote and prolong. “It is a simple and effective way to help people determine what products are right for them and most importantly, how to use them,” he says.  “Most people do not apply sun care correctly.”

His seminar will address some of the myths and misconceptions about sun care, SPF numbers, the different Ultra Violet levels and other sun related topics. Attendees will earn how to determine their skin types, why different areas of their bodies react differently in the sun, what products are right for them and most importantly how to correctly apply products (most people do it wrong!). They will also learn facts about the sun, how different geographic areas can affect the skin in the sun, and learn why very high SPF and waterproof products can be more harmful than helpful.

1:30 p.m. – Pete Weiss, MD: More Health Less Care

Dr. Pete Weiss
