Fleming, Wheeler Receive Certified Health Insurance Executive Designations

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA  - Health First Health Plans‘ executives Katie Fleming and Linda Wheeler have earned certification from the American Health Insurance Plans Executive Leadership Program.

Limited to just 50 candidates nationwide, they were selected based on their high level of professionalism, excellent performance in their current positions and a commitment to the health insurance industry. Both Ms. Fleming and Ms. Wheeler were also awarded Certificates of Professional Achievement from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Hired by Health First Health Plans in 2001 as corporate director of Provider Relations and Physician Recruiting, Ms. Fleming has more than 15 years experience specializing in the managed care insurance industry.  Ms. Wheeler joined Health First Health Plans in 2004, and today serves the company as director of Sales and Marketing and has more than 16 years of insurance industry experience.

Both Ms. Wheeler and Ms. Fleming achieved their Certified Health Insurance Executives designation after participating in three intensive academic sessions during the year-long program, and will officially receive official recognition at a commencement ceremony later this year. Mentoring, academic sessions, and site visits were part of the curriculum with a focal point on strategic management practices needed to lead health insurance plans.

In the latest rankings of healthcare plans across America, U.S. News & World Report has rated Health First Health Plans among the country’s elite, placing 31 out of the more than 165 health plans that participated in the survey.

The Health First Health Plans commercial plans also ranked in the top 25 percent, placing 60 out of 239 participating plans. Only one other plan in Florida ranked higher for both commercial and Medicare products.

Health First Health Plans is located in Rockledge, Florida, and currently has nearly 60,000 members – including 23,000 Medicare members.
