HOSPICE CARE

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Hospice of St. Francis is seeking caring people who would like to become volunteers.

HOSF is certified by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance.

“Hospice of St. Francis volunteers provide assistance in various ways, including making friendly visits to hospice patients, providing respite care for home bound patients, running errands and performing much needed office support,” said Terry Stone, Community Outreach Director. “No previous experience is needed,” she said.

Training is provided at no cost to the participants, and volunteer positions are available throughout Brevard County.

The training class runs for three weeks on Thursdays and Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Hospice of St. Francis office, located at 1250-B Grumman Place in Titusville, Florida. The new training class will begin on Thursday, June 10, and conclude on Tuesday, June 29.

Brevard County’s First Hospice

Hospice of St. Francis’ has been providing care for their patients and support for their loved ones since 1977, when Emily Sasko, R.N. formed Hospice of St. Francis, Inc. to serve Brevard County residents faced with life-limiting illnesses.

From its inception until 1988, the organization provided services through unpaid volunteers. In 1988, Medicare and Medicaid certified Hospice of St. Francis for provision of services through both programs. During 1990, the organization transitioned to a paid professional staff, supported by a strong base of trained volunteers.

Now, Hospice of St. Francis has a full-time physician Medical Director, and three Hospice physicians to provide direct patient services.

Hospice of St. Francis continues to provide care for terminally ill patients and support for their loved ones.  For more information contact Vicky Hamilton, Hospice of St. Francis Volunteer Coordinator, at 321-269-4240 or 866-269-4240, or log on to www.hospiceofstfrancis.com.
