BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Al Pecoraro, Jr., MD, FACS, was among 36 physicians nationwide recognized by the Commission on Cancer for his outstanding work in support of cancer care.
The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
Dr. Pecoraro was cited for his dedication and outstanding efforts in his role as the cancer liaison physician between Cape Canaveral Hospital‘s cancer program and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
A member of Health First Physicians and the Cape Canaveral Hospital Medical Staff, as well as a very active participant in Brevard American Cancer Society activities, Dr. Pecoraro was recognized for excellence in the following areas:
- Improving the quality of care delivered at a Commission on Cancer-approved facility
- Contributing to the approval status of the cancer program
- Exceeding Commission on Cancer expectations to strengthen the cancer program
- Demonstrating cancer control leadership in Brevard County
- Serving as a champion and role model for other staff
Dr. Pecoraro is a Board Certified General Surgeon and member of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has practiced for nine years in Brevard County and has served as a member of the Medical Staff at Cape Canaveral Hospital since 2002.
Dr. Pecoraro’s General Surgery practice is on the fifth floor of the Cape Canaveral Hospital Medical Plaza, located in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
