FOUNDATION NEWS: “Rally Against Cancer Day”

Space Coast Cancer Center Executive Director Debbie Bissland is presented with a City of Cocoa resolution by Mayor Mike Blake proclaiming Saturday, March 20, 2010 as “Rally Against Cancer” Day.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –The Space Coast Cancer Foundation received a resolution from the City of Cocoa Commission proclaiming Saturday, March 20, 2010 as “Rally Against Cancer” Day.
Space Coast Cancer Center Foundation Executive Director Debbie Bissland was presented the official proclamation by Cocoa Mayor Mike Blake during the commission meeting at the beautiful new Cocoa City Hall on Jan. 12.
“The Proclamation is in support of our second annual “Rally Against Cancer” Poker Run and Reverse Raffle to give away a Harley Davidson motorcycle,” said Bissland.
“The event will start with the Poker Run at our Titusville complex, and then travel throughout the county ending up at a picnic where we will have a reverse raffle – with the last ticket drawn winning the Harley. We will be selling only 500 tickets to win the 2010 motorcycle.”
The Space Coast Cancer Center Foundation is the fundraising and charitable arm of Space Coast Cancer Center, and is a separately incorporated, not-for-profit organization dedicated to its mission of providing need-based support to ease the financial burden of cancer care.
In addition to Rally Against Cancer, the Foundation sponsors activities throughout the year including the YMCA Mini-Triathlon, Pamper Me, Please Spa Day, SCCF Golf Scramble, Fashion Show in honor of Dorothy Nabit and the Daffodil Gala.
“This year we are promoting the Rally county-wide, and are seeking sponsors and vendors as we would love to raise enough money to buy a passenger van needed to transport patients for their treatments,” said Bissland.
