BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA (Nov. 11, 2009) – The Brevard Association of Human Services (BAHS) hosed their annual Senior Health Fair Tribute to Veterans today at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne.

Jackie Colon
The event was kicked off by a color guard from Patrick Air Force Base and rousing speech by former Brevard County Commissioner Jackie Colon.
The standing room only crowd, along with over 70 health, medical and wellness-related exhibitors, filled the main ballroom to capacity.
Colon, stressed that we all should be eternally grateful to our veterans, and those who paid the ultimate price, for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
Some Gave All
A major part of the event included the Moving Tribute Memorial, a set of black onyx panels and memoribilia from the 911 attacks provided by “Some Gave All, Inc.” The panels were etched with the names of all of those who paid the ultimate price for their country in the Middle East and those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

BAHS Increases Awareness of Community Providers

Troy Denault
BAHS was founded by a small group of professionals in the Brevard County human services industry who recognized the value in networking.
The organization was established to increase awareness of community providers, and has grown to over 500 participating members – with monthly luncheon attendance topping 100. Meetings are held on every third Wednesday of each month at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place.
“BAHS is the largest and most exciting networking group in the state of Florida,” said BAHS Vice President Troy Denault of All Promotions, Inc., and an event organizer.
“We are a nonprofit organization that supports the healthcare community and the citizens of the Space Coast – as well as other nonprofits.”
Free Health Screenings

“Since 2004 BAHS has hosted the Senior Health Fair to educate the community regarding the many healthcare options available in the area.” said Denault.
“The Senior Health Fair Tribute to Veterans promotes good health for Brevard County senior citizens and, appropriately, also pays tribute to veterans on Veterans Day,” said BAHS Treasurer Dean Friedman of Friedman Asset Preservation Strategies and Long Term Care Planning.
The BAHS Health Fair conved current and compelling health information; free health screenings; and also included a Business Expo. Brevard Association of Human Services’ members meet monthly and focus on education and networking.
The group was established more than 10 years ago in an effort to increase awareness of community providers, thereby improving services available to the community.
Admission and parking were free, and the first 150 seniors to arrive received invitations to a special formal educational plated lunch hosted by some of Brevard’s top senior service companies.
