Childs Hospice House Celebrates Fifth Anniversary
EVENT SPOTLIGHT

WILLIAM CHILDS HOSPICE HOUSE — Brevard’s first freestanding hospice facility — provides area residents with an additional choice for care at the end of a loved one’s life. Located on five acres on the campus of Palm Bay Community Hospital, this eight-bed, inpatient facility is the first of its kind locally.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Hospice of Health First will commemorate the fifth anniversary of their William Childs Hospice House with a leisurely mile-long interactive walk to celebrate the lives of family members or special loved ones who have passed away.
The walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 10. Walk and interactive stations will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 10:30 a.m. This is a family-friendly event for all ages, and children in strollers and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome.
The walk will take place on the William Childs Hospice House campus in Palm Bay. The walking course will begin at the Hospice House, go through the new expansion of Palm Bay Hospital, and back to the Hospice House.
There will be survivor memorial activity stations along the walking course, giveaways at the registration booth and places to rest and have refreshments. Courtesy rides will be provided for those who only walk part of route.
The William Childs Hospice House is named in memory of William Childs, a patient who died in the care of Hospice of Health First in 2002. His wife, Madeline Childs, made a generous lead gift to the building campaign for the house. Located on five acres on the campus of Palm Bay Hospital, the 16 bed, inpatient facility is the first of its kind locally, and the only freestanding hospice facility in Brevard.
A $25 registration fee helps support Hospice of Health First programs and includes a commemorative event t-shirt those who pre-register.
For additional information or registration form, please contact the Hospice of Health First offices at 321-952-0494.
