Anxiety over trying to figure out what gifts we can get for our spouses drives us crazy. If you’re like most of us, you won’t have a clue as to what your best friend and life companion wants. If you’re like most women, however, you have a great idea as to what you really want. So now is the time to bridge that great Mars-Venus divide.

Popular Year-round
From the realm of cosmetic dermatology, there are dozens of gift ideas that fit nearly every budget.  All of them are popular year-round, but especially around the holidays. And so, without further ado, here are a few modest suggestions to make gift selection a little happier and stress-free.

  • FACIALS come in many different varieties, from extraction facials to moisturizing facials to cool cleansing treatments. Aestheticians are trained to help you decide which one is best for your skin, but a facial is pure indulgence.

Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure in the United States.  Properly administered, it makes one look relaxed and rested without that “frozen” look. And who doesn’t want to look relaxed and happy while listening to Uncle Bob regale us for the fifteenth time about his moose hunting trip in 1962?

  • Microdermabrasion is an excellent way to freshen your look with no down time.  Usually performed by an aesthetician, it takes an hour or less, and leaves the skin smooth and healthy looking.  It lessens the appearance of fine wrinkles and “maturity” spots. Who knows?  You might end up with a quick ticket to the kiddie table!
  • Photofacials help eliminate dark spots and facial redness by using intense pulsed light, and, like microdermabrasion, don’t have any down time. Usually performed as a series of treatments, it can have a dramatic effect on your appearance. Want to make your sister-in-law stare at you suspiciously, trying to figure out why you look so good?  This can do the trick.
  • Juvederm works wonders.  It really does. A lot of our patients ask me the same thing: “Do you know how nice it is to wake up and not have to look at those deep lines?”  And that great feeling might just give you the “cat that ate the canary” look you’ve been looking for.
  • Facials come in many different varieties, from extraction facials to moisturizing facials to cool cleansing treatments.  Aestheticians are trained to help you decide which one is best for your skin, but a facial is pure indulgence.  It’s a chance to be pampered.  And if that won’t put a holiday smile on your face, nothing will!
  • Sclerotherapy, which is the elimination of spider veins (usually on the legs), is a high satisfaction procedure with virtually no down time.  And since we live in Florida, you can show off your pretty legs, and surely get a few dirty looks from your friends at the parties. Or admiring looks.  Either way, you win!
  • Show off your earrings: One of the very cool tricks in cosmetic dermatology is the use of Juvederm or Restylane to give more fullness to the ear lobe.  And why, pray tell, would you want to do that?  Because if your husband or boyfriend buys you those big, whopping earrings, you’ll want to show them off to their best advantage. And the way to really dazzle your friends is to keep them from sagging, and make them stand out straight.  The small amount of filler we use makes your earrings look like they cost a fortune.  Which they probably did, but you’re worth it, right?
  • FOR MANY WOMEN, not having to shave ranks right up there with a foot massage and a fur coat, and you can take advantage of it year round, unlike the fur coat.

Permanent hair removal is a gift from heaven for many women. Performed over a series of treatments, the end result is smooth, maintenance free legs. For many women, not having to shave their legs ranks right up there with a foot massage and a fur coat, and you can take advantage of it year round, unlike the fur coat.

  • Chemical peels are an outstanding way to freshen your appearance, improve darks spots and generally reduce facial redness.  Your aesthetician can help you figure out which kind of peel you need.  This is easy on the budget and easy on your face.
  • Laser Treatments are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments for those looking for less “expression lines,” less dark spots and for those looking to lessen the cosmetic effects of acne (and other) scars.  They are usually accomplished with a minimal amount of down time (although it would be best to start after the holiday season).  It’s sort of like a really great New Year’s resolution that will live on for years to come.
