The MIMA Foundation of Brevard, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization serving the Brevard County, Florida community.
Through targeted community initiatives, from grants that assist patients during times of challenged health such as cancer treatment, to educational programs for aspiring nurses, our reach is broad. Thanks to your support, programs like the Foundation’s Healthcare Career Scholarship Fund have provided more than $200,000 in scholarships and endowments to aspiring healthcare professionals, who will keep our families – and the community – well for many years to come.

Caring for Patients, Ensuring Brevard’s Future
The MIMA Foundation Mission: To add to the quality of life in Brevard County by supporting health-oriented educational programs and providing assistance grants to patients in need.
The Healthcare Scholarship Fund is designed to help alleviate and bring attention to the current shortage of nurses and other health care workers, which is expected to grow into a crisis in the next few years.
Patient Assistance Grants are awarded to patients in financial need. These grants are used to pay for non-medical costs incurred during an acute course of medical treatment, such as childcare, transportation and house cleaning.
About the Educational Fund for Allied Scholarships:
Residents, students, and current health care workers in Brevard County are invited to apply for financial aid. The Foundation awards scholarships in the spring and fall of each year. Deadlines for applications are October 15, 2009 and June 15, 2010.
Scholarships Available in the Following Courses of Study:
- Nursing - Associates and Bachelors
- Respiratory Therapy
- Radiology Technology
- Laboratory Technology
- Physical Therapy Assistant
- Medical Assistant

100+ Scholarships at a value of more than $200,000 have been awarded to aspiring healthcare professionals who otherwise may not have been able to afford the training to become Brevard’s next generation of care providers. CLICK HERE TO APPLY
21 Patient Care Grants totaling more than $20,000 have been issued to Brevard County patients to help them take care of non-medical costs, such as childcare, transportation and house cleaning, incurred during an acute course of medical treatment. CLICK HERE TO APPLY
Planned Giving: Leave a Legacy
Planned Giving is a very special way of showing your support to the mission of MIMA Foundation of Brevard. We know that your commitment means you share our passion for keeping Brevard healthy for generations to come. Your long-range planning will impact many lives, and is a tangible way to ensure your philanthropic goals are met.
The Foundation staff can assist with financial planning and help maximize your tax benefit. You can create a lasting gift through a number of planned giving options, including:
Bequest
A gift made through a will, life insurance or retirement account policy. You can specify either a fixed amount or a percentage of your estate.
Charitable Remainder Trust
A gift that makes either a fixed amount payment (annuity trust) or percentage of trust principal (unitrust), to the beneficiary of your choice. At the end of the term, the Foundation receives any funds that remain in the trust.
Charitable Lead Trust
A trust that makes either a fixed amount payment (annuity trust) or a percentage of trust principal (unitrust) to MIMA Foundation of Brevard during its term. At the end of the trust term, the principal can either be returned to the donor (a grantor lead trust) or to heirs named by the donor (a non-grantor lead trust).

The MIMA Foundation of Brevard, Inc., was founded in 2001 by physician members of MIMA – Brevard County’s largest independent physician group. The Foundation is a non-profit, charitable 501(c)3 organization committed to serving the Brevard County community.
Through the MIMA Foundation of Brevard, financially disadvantaged patients can secure additional support during times of critical care for non-medical items not covered by health insurance but are still vital to your health and well-being. The Foundation is also dedicated to help aspiring healthcare professionals receive the top-level education they need to serve our community well into the future, or give current healthcare professionals an opportunity to expand their expertise through advanced learning.
