Making Strides Walk To Be Held Oct. 24 at The Avenue Viera

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® is a noncompetitive 5K walk that will be held Oct. 24 at The Avenue Viera. The event is an opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people who have been lost, and raise funds and awareness to help end this disease. Teams of walkers – and people of all ages – are welcome to participate.

Support of 'Making Strides' enables the American Cancer Society to save lives by:

  • Educating and empowering people to live healthy lives and reduce their risk for breast cancer
  • Helping all women facing breast cancer get well by providing resources and support to help them overcome obstacles in their personal cancer fight
  • Investing in research that leads to groundbreaking discoveries into breast cancer’s causes and cures
  • Fighting for laws that help women battle breast cancer and keep our mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and families healthy

strides-55-wIn 2008, nearly 600,000 walkers across the country – including more than 60,000 in Florida – joined the American Cancer Society in their united fight against breast cancer. More than $60 million was raised through 'Making Strides' events, one donation at a time.

"By participating in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, you will provide hope and help to millions of people nationwide whose lives have been forever changed by this disease," said Gregory Stephens of the American Cancer Society.

"Join us for a few hours of exercise, inspiration, camaraderie, entertainment, and most importantly, to honor someone you know who has been affected by breast cancer – especially if that person is you," said Stephens.
