PRO-HEALTH & FITNESS CENTER Director Steve Dietz, General Manager Alisa daSilva and Cape Canaveral Hospital President Roy Wright survey the 68,000-square-foot Mediterranean style Viera Pro-Health & Fitness. Center.
BREVARD COUNTY, Florida residents residents can now train like pros at the new Pro-Health & Fitness Center in Viera.
The impressive new center is a welcome and positive addition for the health and well-being of the Brevard County, Florida community. Driving west on Wickham Road you can’t miss the impressive new 68,000 square-foot facility located at the intersection of Lake Andrew Drive and Wickham Road. The new state-of-the-art center offers a wide variety of workout choices, equipment, and services that allow members maximum ‘flex’-ability in fitness options.
“We designed the facility to provide separate and custom spaces for working out,” noted Pro-Health & Fitness Center Director Steve Dietz. “We included separate rooms for Yoga, Pilates, group cycling, and group exercise. The facility also features large areas for strength-training and cardiovascular fitness. Each piece of our cardiovascular equipment features state-of-the-art CARDIO THEATRE® so members can bring in their own CDs and DVDs so they can watch their favorite television shows or listen to their favorite music while getting a good cardiovascular workout.
“There’s also dedicated space for personal and sport-specific training,” added Dietz, who’s proud of Pro-Health’s designation as the “Official Brevard County Fitness Centers of the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball Team.”
“We’re here for the community,” Dietz noted. You don’t have to be a Major League Baseball player to enjoy the new Viera Pro-Health. In fact, you don’t even have to be a Pro-Health member because the main lobby, Snack Shack, Front Desk, Pro Shop, and Wellness community lecture room are open to the community at all times.
“We invite everyone to enjoy our facility,” said General Manager Alisa daSilva. “Our first floor features a concourse that’s open to the public. Guests can enjoy our WiFi Café and Juice Bar that features healthy choices and our Pro-Shop offers a great selection. We also have a community classroom where we sponsor ongoing wellness education for anyone in the community who’s interested.
“We’re very focused on maintaining a welcoming, warm environment for members and non-members alike,” daSilva noted. “It’s a large facility, which makes it all that much more important to strive for a small-town feeling.”

LISA MILAM enjoys the Pro Health & Fitness cardiovascular equipment which features the state-of-the-art CARDIO THEATRE®. Members can bring in their own CDs and DVDs so they can watch their favorite television shows or listen to music while exercising.
Get Pumped
Whatever your workout choices, you’ll feel good about the options offered at the new Pro-Health Viera facility. “We have two full lines of Cybex equipment and a complete line of free motion equipment,” daSilva stated. “Our 1/10-mile indoor track features a rubberized surface; and our gymnasium offers regulation basketball/volleyball courts with two adjoining racquetball courts.”
A 75-foot four-lane lap pool and a heated, multi-function pool both have deep-water areas for fitness training. The men’s and women’s locker rooms feature personal grooming stations, lounges, dry heat saunas, steam rooms, and whirlpools. Three massage rooms add to the ‘feel-good’ experience.
The Kid-Fit area provides members’ children with supervision and a safe place to play while parents work out. A lively geometrically-patterned floor promotes physical activity, and special programs in the gymnasium and group fitness areas make children feel welcome and energized.
Mediterranean Style
The new facility’s Mediterranean-style design reflects its warm and welcoming environment. As part of the first phase of Health First’s Viera Health Park, the Viera Pro-Health facility also sets the tone for medical offices and the 100-bed hospital that will be built on the adjoining sections of the same 50-acre property in the next few years.
“The facility is distinctive while blending in well with other development underway in Viera,” said R. Roy Wright, an officer of Health First who was involved in the strategic planning for the Health First Viera facilities and also serves as president of Cape Canaveral Hospital.
“It’s our fourth Pro-Health facility in Brevard and we’re very excited about the opening. There has been a lot of anticipation in the community for it, and Pro-Health has a very strong reputation because of its other three facilities, which we’re also focusing on with new equipment and aesthetic upgrades.”
Architects/interior designers for the Viera Pro-Health are part of OLC Design, a Denver-based company with offices in Orlando and a proven track record for designing hospital-based fitness centers. Lead architect for the project was Sam Elsheikh, and Doug Wilson Enterprises was the general contractor, with Al Forbes supervising the Viera facility construction project.
According to Dietz, the facility was designed 10 percent larger to accommodate future growth. The Viera design included space to accommodate future fitness trends, careful consideration of traffic flow, and a state-of-the-art heating and air-conditioning system that constantly circulates fresh air.
Outpatient Rehabilitation
A 3,400-square-foot Health First Outpatient Rehabilitation facility with its own separate entrance is located on the northwest corner of the new center. The rehabilitation facility will offer area residents physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
Services include, but are not limited to: aquatic therapy, lymphedema therapy, balance/vestibular therapy, strength and conditioning programs, pre- and post-operative rehab, return-to-sport programs, pelvic dysfunction and incontinence, cognitive rehab, dysphasia, and voice restoration.
