Health First Ball Raises $465,000 For VitalWatch

Sell-out Crowd of 580 Enjoys “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” Theme
THE HEALTH FIRST HOSPITAL system continues to be a leader in intensive-care treatment, helped in part by money raised at the recent 27th Health First Foundation Annual Benefit Ball.
The $465,000 in sponsorships for the ball will benefit Vital Watch, Health First’s eICU program. The computer-based intensive care monitoring system allows critical-care physicians and nurses to monitor patients 24 hours a day from a central location. The system provides another layer of supervision for critical patients, allowing secure access to real-time vital signs, laboratory results and complete electronic medical records of intensive-care patients at the three Health First hospitals.
When Health First installed VitalWatch in 2004, it became the first electronic intensive care unit in the Southeast.
The ball to benefit the innovation featured a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme. A sell-out crowd of 580 guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres served on Tiffany blue gift boxes and blue cocktails, as Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard looked on from large-screen televisions showing the iconic movie. Florida Tech’s Clemente Center was transformed by thousands of white flowers with blue accents, designed by Link Johnsten of Eau Gallie Florists.
Rita Moreno served as 2009 Ball chairwoman, alongside committee members Gail Beagley, Debbie Cherin, Pennie DiPrima, Carol Ellis, Jeanne Farmer, Darcia Jones Francey, Dottie Gatti, Myra Haley, Bjorg Hermansen, Valerie Holloway, Gloria Mandel, Kim Mikolajczyk, Polly Molnar, Jan Pence, Andrea Shaffer, Susan Thompson, Susan Vallette and Sandra Wagner.
