Healing, helping and being present for the needs of others are what we at Parrish Medical Center (PMC) and Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) are all about. Presence is being consciously and compassionately in the present moment with another. That may mean listening to what someone is saying as well as what they are not saying, reading a person’s body language or simply being there to listen when someone wants to talk. Presence means many things and is shown in many different ways.

At JPMF, being present means we embrace the interests and needs of our benefactors and supporters, placing these interests at the center of our philanthropic mission. This benefactor-centered approached begins with a focus on your values and connects those values to the living traditions, causes, community needs and solutions within our realm. These connections nourish and sustain those values from generation to generation.

Now more than ever, your support of Jess Parrish Medical Foundation is needed and can transform lives. The changing climate of health care has created challenging times for hospitals, particularly not-for-profit health care providers. And, the needs of our seniors, our children and our families exceed the financial resources available to our medical center.

We work to provide meaningful giving opportunities at all levels. Community giving is what started our organization more than 25 years ago, what led to our being named a past Organization of the Year through FloridaToday’s Volunteer Recognition Awards, and the spirit that carries Jess Parrish Medical Foundation today.

Thanks to hundreds of generous supporters at all levels, JPMF has raised nearly $3 million in the past five years and supported many community health and wellness programs. We continue to make a significant and healing impact on the lives of families in North Brevard County and our region.

I believe, and recent scientific studies confirm, that giving makes us happier people. When we give of ourselves through our time, talents and treasures to help improve the lives of others, our lives are improved in the process. This is our mission and hope for you. This is our vision and hope for the community.

From a concerned group of citizens committed to building a hospital in their hometown and raising funds to do so, to the original donation of land, North Brevard County’s citizens believe in their community and hospital. A long legacy of giving to what is now Parrish Medical Center (PMC) began in the 1930s when the Parrish family of North Brevard first donated land for a community hospital. Since that time, countless gifts, small and large, have helped Parrish Medical Center provide the best, most affordable health care to our community, continue its service excellence, and enable plans for the future.

In 1958, North Brevard Hospital, which became Parrish Medical Center, opened the original single-story, 28-bed facility set within an orange grove on the banks of the Indian River on the donated property. As the community has grown and changed, so has PMC. The medical center has expanded through the decades to 210 beds – its present size – and in 2002, it opened one of the nation’s first evidence-based healing hospitals.

pmc-33-wNow an award winning hospital recognized as one of America’s finest healing environments, Parrish Medical Center delivers personalized care and health-related services with the highest quality medical and ethical standards to improve the health status of the people we serve. PMC is passionate about providing healing experiences to everyone all the time.

Jess Parrish Medical Foundation’s (JPMF) vision is to be the charity of choice in North Brevard County, Florida.Their mission is to expand the tradition of strong community and philanthropic support for Parrish Medical Center and health, wellness and safety initiatives that are consistent with PMC’s vision of Healing Families… Healing Communities. Partnerships are essential to fulfilling PMC’s commitment of excellence to our community and JPMF’s purpose is to build relationships throughout the community and inspire these philanthropic partnerships.

Contributions to the Foundation are deductible by donors and/or their estates for federal income, gift and estate tax purposes under the provisions of Internal Revenue Code Sections 170, 2055, 2106 and 2522.

Jess Parrish Memorial Hospital Foundation was chartered as a not-for-profit corporation in June 1982. It was organized and established in February 1983 and later renamed Jess Parrish Medical Foundation in honor of the late Senator Jesse J. Parrish Sr.

The Jess Parrish Medical Foundation  is currently in a capital campaign for a signature project, the Health Village at Main Street PMC. The Health Village at Main Street PMC is the only healthcare healing environment of its kind, combining a small-town atmosphere with compassionate, skilled and specialized outpatient care for older adults, developing and delivering services that help adults age with grace, poise and confidence.

pmc-mainstreet-wThe Main Street PMC project involves the relocation of historic houses onto the Parrish Medical Center campus and the building of new structures to resemble old buildings to house offices, services and programs for older adults-in one location where seniors will feel comfortable when seeking medical care.

Pamela Tronetti, DO, AGSF, a highly trained geriatrician, is the Medical Director for Main Street PMC and runs the Parrish Senior Consultation Center (PSCC), the flagship program for the health village. At its temporary location on Century Medical Drive near Parrish Medical Center, Dr. Tronetti and her staff are dedicated to helping to improve the health and well being of older patients. The Center uses a team approach to thoroughly evaluate patients, providing specialized consultative geriatric care that helps the patient and their caregivers.

The role of the Foundation is to support Parrish Medical Center by matching an individual’s charitable interests with the needs of the hospital and the North Brevard community. While many benefactors give to support the hospital’s greatest needs and the signature project, we are happy to talk to you about other needs and ways you can make a difference in the health and quality of life of our community.
